Before and after: my soft and romantic look for weddings and parties

It's wedding season! I wanted to share my own soft and romantic look that would be perfect for any upcoming weddings or special summer events you have coming up. I know that this look would look beautiful on anyone, and it's so easy to adapt and play around with. See how I did my soft and romantic look.

My picks for the perfect party makeup

Step 1 For this look it's all about the eyes, and the Guerlain Ecrin 4 Couleurs Long Lasting Eyeshadow Palette (£41, available here) in Les Sables colours is perfect.

Sweep on the lightest shade all over the lid with a patting motion and then take the palest shade in the inner corners of the eyes and spread the shade out across the lid.

Mix the two darker colours together to get a custom shade that's perfect for you. You can make the colour darker or lighter depending on your individual tastes. Use a fluffy brush and swirl the colour into the outer corner of the eyes. You can keep blending until you're happy with the finished effect.

For this look we also took some of the same colour we put in the socket line of the eye underneath my bottom lashes to add more definition.

I struggle to apply a precise eyeline as I've got quite shaky hands, so I find smudged eyeliner much easier to do. It looks a little bit messier and a little bit more interesting than a perfect flick, but it's fine for this look. You can use a small brush, or your finger, and run it back and forth against the liner to smudge everything out.

We used fake lashes in this look - it's up to you whether you want to use them or not. Prep you own eyelashes with mascara, I love the Diorshow Mascara - Buildable Professional Volume 10ml (£25, available here). This first coat will act as a base for the lashes.

A top tip would be to apply some eyeliner, something like the Givenchy Parad'Eyes Liner 3ml in Brown Legend (£23.50, available here) to the lashes before you glue them on, so they blend in seamlessly.

Step 2 Prime the skin – I love the DHC velvet skin coat (£17, available here) for creating a flawless base and for making sure my makeup stays in place all day and night.

Step 3 Go for a comfortable base, like the Clarins Hydra Quench tinted moisturizer (£30, available here)

Step 4 Use a powder to make your makeup last all night – the bareMinerals mineral veil (£21, available here) is my favourite. Use a big fluffy brush, like the Real Techniques blush brush to sweep the powder lightly over the skin (£9.99, available here)

Step 5 Use something sheer and peachy pink on the lips – I’m loving the Givenchy Le Rouge a porter in Nude Ultime at the moment (£25, available here)

Do your eye makeup first if you know you're going to be wearing a lot of eyeshadow that way you won't ruin your foundation if any shadow falls down onto your face.

Always use a primer if you want your make-up to last all day and into the night.

Wear a light and comfortable foundation with a tint if possible and fix it with some powder, then you it will stay looking fresh for longer.

Have a great summer everyone and please do let me know any looks you want to see or questions that you would like to ask – send any requests to @RosieFortescue
